Where to stay for the St. George Marathon
West-side houses near the Snow Canyon miles of the St. George Marathon, plus how race morning works downtown.
The useful question is where to sleep, and how to reach the start without inventing a shortcut. The St. George Marathon is a City of St. George race and a Boston qualifier. It is point to point, net downhill, from the Pine Valley Mountains into town. The finish is downtown. Our houses are not. They are on the west side, which is the useful side if you know where the late miles go.
The date, then the map
The city has published the next marathon dates as October 2, 2027 and October 7, 2028 on its registration policies page. That page is still written around the 2026 race, so read it again before you book flights. Expo hours, bus times, and the course map are posted year by year on the marathon information page.
On the 2026 course, runners started in Central on State Route 18, came through Veyo and Dammeron Valley, passed Snow Canyon State Park, and finished at Vernon Worthen Park. The city lists a cutoff at Snow Canyon Parkway and S.R. 18, at mile 23.1. If that intersection moves, the city's map wins. Do not navigate from an old photo of the course.
Where to watch, and where not to drive
The finish, and marathon bus loading, are at Vernon Worthen Park, 250 S 400 E. The city tells spectators to get downtown early and leave time to park. After you finish, people meet on the grass in the park.
Marathon buses have loaded at that park before dawn, and you ride only at your assigned time. The half marathon has loaded at Sandtown Park, 600 N Bluff Street. Read the event you entered. State Route 18 and the downtown streets on the course close for the race. Plan the spectator loop the night before, not at 7 a.m.
Packet pickup is at the Dixie Convention Center, 1835 S Convention Center Drive, the day before the marathon. The city's own pages have not agreed on the Friday hours, so use the current schedule rather than a remembered clock time. If someone else picks up your bib, the city has required a photo of your government ID.
Where we put people
Las Palmas is at 1845 W Canyon View Drive, about four miles west of downtown, on the Snow Canyon side of St. George. That is the side of town the course uses before it turns toward the finish. You are not walking to Vernon Worthen Park. You drive, and you come back to a kitchen.
Three doors we still advertise there:
- Las Palmas 113, Snow Canyon View sleeps 12. Three bedrooms, the canyon in the frame, the water park on the same grounds. Use it when the crew is large.
- Las Palmas 1810, Sunset Peak also sleeps 12, with a deck over the family pool. Useful the afternoon you are done running and nobody wants a restaurant.
- Las Palmas 103, Adventure Awaits sleeps 6. Two bedrooms, same resort, less house. Enough for a runner and a small crew.
Open the stay and send an inquiry, or call the desk at (435) 313-5143 and name the unit. Email is reservations@dusktodawnproperties.com. These are inquiries, not Instant Book. The calendar on the booking site is the live one.
October is also golf and park weather. Book the house when you get into the race, not the week of the expo.
The day after
If you stay through Sunday, Snow Canyon is the close hike, and downtown St. George is the dinner you skipped on Saturday. The rest of the valley is on The Area. If the same trip includes a tournament, the tournament weekend guide covers the fields. They are not all next to each other.
